The Purpose of the Event
This year’s focus for the emergency preparedness seminar is to go “Back to Basics: Tabernacling with the Father and My Brethren In The Midst of the Storm.” In this gathering, we will learn how God prepares us and our family to work as a unit before a disaster and prepare ourselves for service in one!

Ministry Founder
Apostle Markita Brooks
Markita Brooks is the wife of Hassan Brooks and the mother of Samaria and Joshua. She is also the founder and apostolic ministry leader of The Truth In The Spirit. Apostle Markita was ordained by Messianic Rabbi Eric Carlson, leader of Congregation Zion’s Sake, who serves as the spiritual covering for The Truth In The Spirit. Apostle Markita has a Bachelor’s degree in Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond. She has been trained through Kad-Esh MAP Ministry’s Global Revival Messianic Apostolic Prophetic Bible School and the Messianic Studies Certificate Degree program by the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues. She also leads the Company of Apostles and Prophets as well as the Ecclesia Network of Ministries. Apostle Markita also serves as the spiritual covering for 3 other ministries in Tidewater, VA, while training pastors and leaders in various other ministries as well.

Elder Temese Willis
Temese is a native of New Jersey and an elder at The Truth in the Spirit and a member of World Outreach Worship Center, both located in Newport News, VA. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Virginia College at Wise and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Old Dominion University. Additionally, she is a certified public school educator for Newport News Public School (NNPS) and was nominated and selected as one of the 2016 Teachers’ of the Year. She has trained in many public service field areas such as Hampton Roads B.E.S.T Advanced Youth Development, Seeking Shalom, Dignity Serves Community Developer Trainings & Newport News Community Emergency Preparedness Team (CERT), as well as Public Works Citizen Academy graduate, to name a few. Elder Temese has also worked closely with the local community as a neighborhood connector for Assets Based Community Development (ABCD) and Creating Responsibility in My Environment (C.R.I.M.E). Spending time with family and friends is one of Temese’s favorite activities, as are, outdoor recreational activities, artistry and design, visiting museums and playing the guitar.

Mr. David Dietrich
David is a former leader in the Boy Scouts of America with over fifteen years of service. Building on his youth scouting skills, he has learned the importance of self-sufficiency through camping, backing, and merit badges, such as wilderness survival, first aid, and emergency preparedness.
His credentials include having taken the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training, participated in military survival exercises, Self-Aid and Buddy Care, American Red Cross First Aid/CPR, AHA Heart Saver CPR, and AED courses, and SOLO Wilderness First Aid.
David currently co-owns GetReady! Emergency Planning Center, which focuses on developing a strong foundation of water, food, medical, and other survival capabilities. GetReady! services include certified first aid courses, as well as preparedness and survival education and training.
